Thank
you for your interest in visiting our mountain farm Mother’s
Garden in north east Spain that has been featured twice
in the popular television series No Going Back.
A great many people have been in touch from around the world,
more since Martin’s book, No Going Back, Journey to
Mother’s Garden, was published in Britain, South America,
Holland and (in 2007) Catalonia.
We are so pleased that, finally, we have found a way people
can come and stay on the farm and fully appreciate this
life and the wonderful region in which we live.
Below you will find information on where the cottage La
Vinya Del Pare (Father’s Vineyard) can be found, what
there is to see and do in this area, what the accommodation
is, letting costs and conditions, and a guide to how to
find the cheapest flights.
Please read on!

Where
are we?
The farm Mother’s Garden is
in the beautiful mountains of the Priorat,a
small inland county in the south of Catalonia, south west
of Tarragona, and only 40 minutes from great beaches (by
rail or car) or an hour and a half from the buzz of Barcelona.
If you can find Falset on the map
by following the N420 from Tarragona (famous for its Roman
history) to Reus and on in to the mountains you are getting
very warm!
The area is renowned for its outstanding natural beauty,
its world-class wine and olive oil and its fascinating
history, dating back to prehistoric times.
It will appeal greatly to food and wine enthusiasts, bird
watchers, walkers or anyone seeking a taste of real Spain
or simply seeking a holiday with a difference. Children
are very welcome indeed!
We also aim to offer guided walks and tours – and
a chance to learn how to prune vines, pick grapes or harvest
almonds or olives if the time is right. From the beautiful
almond blossom in late January to the olive harvest at
the end of November, there are good reasons to visit us,
and La Vinya del Pare has a large wood burner to keep
it cosy when the sun goes down on winter nights!
Let us know what your interests are. We have an extensive
knowledge of the area and have a great many contacts,
so can guide you to the best places to eat, see, experience
and explore.
What is the accommodation
exactly?
La Vinya Del Pare is a south-west
facing house on our working farm, Mother’s
Garden, in a beautiful valley with views towards Aragon.

There is accommodation for up to eight people in three
bedrooms.
Downstairs there is a large open plan sitting/dining area
and kitchen, plus double bedroom and shower room (making
La Vinya del Pare accessible for wheelchair users). The
fully equipped kitchen has a gas hob and electric oven,
dishwasher, fridge, and freezer and there is access to
a washing machine.
Upstairs there are two large bedrooms, both leading leading
onto the terrace. One is a double, the other a twin (with
additional singles and cots if required). There is a bathroom
and also a rear terrace leading down to the garden and
pool.

How easy is it to get to us?
Very easy indeed. The city of Reus has
its own airport and there are cheap flights twice a day with
Ryan Air from Stansted, Dublin, Luton and Liverpool –
and Frankfurt Kahn in Germany. See www.ryanair.com
for details.
You can also buy charter airline tickets from the spring to
the autumn through all good travel agents or direct from airlines
such as First Choice, with flights to Reus from airports all
over the UK. NB Reus Airport is sometimes listed as Barcelona
Reus.
Then there are daily flights to Barcelona International Airport
from British airports with EasyJet and other low cost airlines
as well as national carriers like British Airways. For people
travelling from further afield they can connect with daily
flights from Madrid International Airport to Reus or Barcelona.
Car hire is available through Ryan Air or online or through
all the major hire companies. We aim, too, to offer transport
at reasonable cost from the airport to the farm. Please inquire.
