MILL RUN - what does that mean?

It is, simply, about getting the very best at a sensible price with less packaging and less transport.
We can and are doing this with your help, an endeavour that started with a delivery of fresh, world-class extra virgin olive oil to our old home ground of Norfolk and which now is spreading across the country

We live in the heart of one of the world's leading olive oil regions.
The area is called the Priorat and the little village cooperative mills in these Catalan mountains in north east Spain have won numerous awards for their arbequina extra virgin cold pressed olive oil.
Using our knowledge and contacts gained over the seven years we have lived and farmed here we have sourced from neighbouring village cooperative mills world class 100 per cent unblended, fresh, arbequina extra virgin olive oil.

Fresh oil - a simple, tasty, essential fact of life

Fresh olive oil, bursting with flavour and goodness, is essential to everyday Mediterranean life - but why just here where we live?
Increasingly people in Britain are aware of the health and taste benefits of best quality olive oil, but the price of such fresh oil can be very high.
Cheaper oils, or any oil that does not give a pressing date, may well not be from the most recent harvest and the quality, benefits and flavour can be much lower.
We wonder how many people in Britain have ever tasted fresh oil - with the Mother's Garden Mill Run you will know the difference.

The Mill Run - direct to you

Our aim is very very simple - to use our knowledge to supply from our local award-winning olive mills direct to your homes the freshest extra virgin olive oil possible, as quickly as possible with as little transport and packaging as possible. So ....

This is how it works

The arbequina olives are harvested between November and February. They are hand picked and pressed within 24 hours for prime quality. (Unlike all other oils, olive oil is essentially a freshly squeezed, unrefined fruit juice).
The village mills we work with maintain the quality of the oil under specially controlled conditions until bottling.
We taste and select at every harvest, and you will be told the exact mill and village your oil has come from.
We will only supply oil from the most recent harvest. Each bottle will carry the pressing and bottling dates. Our target is to get the oil from the mill to your home within six weeks.

 

We bottle and ship when we have a full pallet order - 750 litres. We will only sell 2 and 5 litre recyclable plastic containers with removable labels. And for the lowest possible price we will delivery to one location a minimum of 30 litres, either to restaurants or to groups of friends and family using key contacts we call our Mother's Garden Mill Run HUBS.

For example

We have a rapidly expanding list of HUBS - people who think like we do about waste and eating well, who are prepared to organize on behalf of themselves and five or more other friends a minimum order for 30 litres. The 'HUB' organises the payment and receives the oil, drastically cutting transport and cost.

Our aim is get the fresh oil from mill to you in a maximum of six weeks.
